“I love a sunburnt country!” said no goth ever….yet here they come!
Sweden’s sexiest vampyres are about to descend on The Land Down Under!
If you haven’t heard of Tribulation yet you’re in for a treat! This four piece is a combination of death metal, power metal, gothic visions of the silver screen and, my favourite… hair! I know that description sounds a little strange, but trust me on this one – they’re a band you need to see at least once if your life!
I saw Tribulation play at St Vitus Bar, Brooklyn back in November 2015 and they blew me away. Their flashy playing, stage presence and carefully designed image was all this girl could hope for in a modern band. From the moment they walked slowly through the crowd and onto the stage I was hooked. Let me paint a picture; In a dark room slow atmospheric music played, incense burned, the lights were dimmed, and the band’s silhouettes were in front of us; still but confident and powerful. With one quick bang of the drums the stage came alive with lights, powdered hair flicks and guitar riffage that seemed almost ritualistic!
Tribulation had arrived!
The band maintained an almost trance-like playing state for the entire show, they were reminiscent of the somnambulist, Cesare, in The Cabinet of Dr Caligari – aware we were there but playing as though hypnotised by the music itself. In true rock and roll style they thrilled the crowd with their high kicks, flashy guitar moves and overall persona. I didn’t want the ceremony to end!
With the addition of an Australian tour I’m lucky enough to be seeing these guys 3 times in the space of 1 year. With my first introduction being last November I am stoked to be seeing them not only here at Crowbar in Brisbane, but also at Psycho Las Vegas in August alongside Alice Cooper, Blue Oyster Cult, Danava & so many more amazing bands.
If you’re in Brisbane, Sydney or Hobart this June do yourself a favour and buy a ticket to experience Tribulation at it’s finest…Let the count down begin!
